Manage your Google Podcasts settings
On your mobile device, you can manage your Google Podcasts settings, like:
- Auto download new episodes or remove old ones from your subscriptions.
- Get or stop subscription notifications.
- Get or stop personalized podcast recommendations.
- Autoplay an episode after your current episode is over.
- Choose a light or dark theme.
Auto download episodes from your subscriptions
- On your Android phone or tablet, open Google Podcasts
.
- At the bottom, tap Home
.
- At the top right, tap your Profile picture or initial
Podcast settings.
- Under "Downloads," tap Auto downloading.
- Turn on Auto download new episodes.
- Under "Your subscriptions," turn on podcasts you want to auto download.
Change when downloads are removed
By default, Google Podcasts removes downloaded episodes:
- 24 hours after you finish them.
- 30 days after you download them.
To change these settings:
- On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Podcasts app
.
- At the bottom, tap Home
.
- At the top right, tap your Profile picture or initial
Podcast settings.
- For completed episodes, tap Remove completed episodes and choose a time period.
- For unfinished episodes, tap Remove unfinished episodes and choose a time period.
Manage notifications for your subscriptions
- On your Android phone or tablet, open Google Podcasts
.
- At the bottom, tap Home
.
- At the top right, tap your Profile picture or initial
Podcast settings.
- Under "Notifications," tap New episodes from your subscriptions.
- Next to each subscription, turn notifications on or off.
When you're signed in to your Google Account, Google might recommend podcasts based on:
- Your Google Podcasts history.
- If you have Web & App Activity turned on, your activity across Google products.
To turn personalized recommendations on or off:
- On your Android phone or tablet, open Google Podcasts
.
- At the bottom, tap Home
.
- At the top right, tap your Profile picture or initial
Podcast settings.
- Under "Explore," turn Show personalized recommendations on or off.
Use Light or Dark mode
- On your Android phone or tablet, open Google Podcasts
.
- At the bottom, tap Home
.
- At the top right, tap your Profile picture or initial
Podcast settings.
- Under "Appearance," tap Theme and choose a theme.
Choose your preferred languages
Important: Not all languages are available to select as a preferred language.
You can find and listen to podcasts in up to 2 languages. To choose your languages:
- On your Android phone or tablet, open Google Podcasts
.
- At the bottom, tap Home
.
- At the top right, tap your Profile picture or initial
Podcast settings.
- Under "Personalization," tap Preferred language & region.
- Next to your preferred languages, check the box.
- At the bottom, tap Save languages.
To show playback controls on your device's lock screen, you must turn on notifications and Audio Playback for the Google app.
- On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google app
.
- At the top right, tap your Profile picture or initial
