"0x00000050" Stop error during backup operations in Windows Server 2012 R2 [MS]

Computer crashes during backup when it accesses a specific location that's used for backup operations by using a third-party software. Additionally, you receive a Stop error that looks something like this:

STOP: 0x00000050 (parameter1, parameter2, parameter3, parameter4)

  • This Stop error indicates a PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA (50) issue.

  • The parameters in this Stop error message vary, depending on the configuration of the computer.

  • Not all "0x00000050" Stop errors are caused by this issue.

To fix this issue, install the May 2016 update rollup for Windows RT 8.1, Windows 8.1, and Windows Server 2012 R2 (KB3156418).
