This article is for people with visual impairments who use a screen reader program with Office products and is part of the Office Accessibility content set. For more general help, see Microsoft Support home.

Use the Outlook on the web calendar with your keyboard and a screen reader to add new items to a board in the calendar board view. We have tested it with Narrator in Microsoft Edge and JAWS and NVDA in Chrome, but it might work with other screen readers and web browsers as long as they follow common accessibility standards and techniques.

Notes:

  • New Microsoft 365 features are released gradually to Microsoft 365 subscribers, so your app might not have these features yet. To learn how you can get new features faster, join the Office Insider program.

  • To learn more about screen readers, go to How screen readers work with Microsoft Office.

  • When you use Outlook on the web, we recommend that you use Microsoft Edge as your web browser. Because Outlook on the web runs in your web browser, the keyboard shortcuts are different from those in the desktop program. For example, you'll use Ctrl+F6 instead of F6 for jumping in and out of the commands. Also, common shortcuts like F1 (Help) and Ctrl+O (Open) apply to the web browser – not Outlook on the web.

Add items from the calendar board view

You can add, for example, calendar events, links, images, notes, and a weather widget to your board.

  1. In the Outlook on the web calendar, navigate to the board you want to add items to.

  2. In the calendar board view, press the Tab key until you hear "Calendar view options," followed by the option currently in focus.

  3. Press the Left, Right, Up, or Down arrow key until you hear "Add to board, menu item," and press Enter.

  4. Press the Down arrow key until you hear "Show all," and press Enter. Press the Up arrow key until you hear the item you want to add to the board, and then press Enter. The item is added to the board.

Add a task from My Day or an event from your Outlook calendar

You can quickly add a task directly from the My Day feed or an event straight from your Outlook calendar to a board.

  1. Navigate to the item, for example a calendar event in Outlook on the web, that you want to add to a board.

  2. When on the item, press Shift+F10. The context menu opens.

  3. Press the Up arrow key until you hear "Add to board," and then press the Right arrow key to expand the menu.

  4. Press the Down arrow key until you hear the board you want, and then press Enter. The item is added to the selected board.
